About The Position

Merakey is launching a pioneering Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) in the Kensington area of Philadelphia, an area significantly impacted by addiction and homelessness. This initiative aims to provide urgent, compassionate care directly within the community, offering services such as substance use treatment (including Methadone), primary care, crisis response, and court support. The role involves joining a mission-driven team dedicated to connecting individuals to recovery and stability through evidence-based care and street-level engagement, contributing to lasting change in a vulnerable community. Merakey Parkside’s Mobile Program is seeking a dedicated Mobile Intake Counselor to conduct Strength-Based Comprehensive Assessments (SBCAs) and intake evaluations for individuals seeking MMT, MAT, and non-MAT services. This position also offers short-term counseling support during client stabilization on MMT/MAT and requires community-based work throughout Philadelphia, involving travel to various program sites across the city. The position is grant-funded for at least one year, with possible extensions.

Requirements

Associate degree
Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree
Minimum of one (1) year of experience completing intake assessments and performing related administrative or clerical duties
ASAM certification
Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) or Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) credential

Responsibilities

Conduct intake and Strength-Based Comprehensive Assessments (SBCAs) and determine appropriate services based on clinical need and stage of change.
Provide short-term counseling during stabilization periods for MMT/MAT clients.
Present comprehensive client reviews (PIRs) to the medical department and clinical team.
Engage and educate clients who may be resistant to treatment, encouraging participation in therapy and support services.
Build rapport with clients while maintaining professional boundaries.
