About The Position

This full-time position is in the Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH) Division of HIV Health (DHH) Surveillance Unit. The position will report to the MMP Project Coordinator. Duties include, but are not limited to, collecting information related to the diagnosis of opportunistic illnesses, providing preventive therapies, prescribing antiretroviral medications, reviewing laboratory results, assessing adverse medication events, and reviewing health services utilization through chart abstraction. Employees will also perform detailed case investigations on selected HIV-positive individuals through extensive phone interviews as well as home and community field visits.

  • Working knowledge of HIV/AIDS and associated laboratory testing required

Responsibilities

  • Collect information related to the diagnosis of opportunistic illnesses, prescription of antiretroviral medications, laboratory results, assessment of adverse events due to medications, and review of health services utilization.
  • Ensure the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of patient data.
  • Perform detailed epidemiologic case investigations on selected HIV cases.
  • Conduct home and community field visits to work with patients when necessary.
  • Review patient and data line lists weekly to determine patient care status.
  • Create and manage Excel spreadsheets and project databases to track patient information.
  • Participate in monthly conference calls.
  • Manage communication with the medical facilities.
  • Conduct surveillance investigations through reviewing medical records.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate all daily work activities.
  • Attend training courses to enhance knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
