MMG Coder - Family Practice

About The Position

The MMG Coder - Family Practice is responsible for assigning accurate CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10 codes, along with appropriate modifiers, based on medical record documentation for outpatient and inpatient professional encounters. The role also assists with auditing evaluation and management (E&M) services against documentation, helps train and educate providers and staff on coding issues, and contributes significantly to coding compliance activities. The position is with Methodist Medical Group, the North Texas physician organization affiliated with Methodist Health System. Its network includes more than 92 ambulatory clinics, an urgent care clinic, and a virtual care service called MethodistNOW. The position's stated schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Requirements

A minimum of 2 years of recent experience in an outpatient primary care and surgical setting.
Must hold Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist – Physician (CCS-P), with the appropriate level of experience.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree preferred, or an associate degree in Health Information Management preferred.
Surgical coding experience in Trauma, General Surgery, Orthopedics, and/or Neurosurgery preferred.
