About The Position

The Outpatient Family Practice Provider will deliver comprehensive medical care in a full-time walk-in clinic setting at the IHS facility in Ogema, Minnesota. The provider will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. The clinic operates with two providers and an average combined volume of 20–30 patients per day, shared between the providers. This role supports IHS’s mission to raise the physical, mental, social, and spiritual health of American Indian and Alaska Native populations to the highest level. The position is in an outpatient walk-in clinic and is scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 PM–4:30 PM. Compensation is $180–$190 per hour.

Requirements

MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
Current, unrestricted license in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
Board certified.
Current BLS certification is required.
DEA registration or eligibility to obtain it.

Nice To Haves

Minimum two years of clinical experience in outpatient, primary care, or urgent/walk-in care settings is preferred.
Experience in rural, tribal, or underserved communities is strongly preferred.
ACLS certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide direct outpatient medical care to walk-in patients of all ages.
Perform medical histories, physical exams, assessments, and diagnoses.
Treat acute illnesses, manage chronic conditions, and provide follow-up care.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests, labs, and imaging.
Prescribe medications in accordance with federal, state, and IHS guidelines.
Document all patient encounters accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
Collaborate with nursing staff, behavioral health, pharmacy, and specialty services.
Provide patient education, preventive care guidance, and referrals as appropriate.
Comply with all IHS policies, federal regulations, and clinical protocols.
Maintain professional standards, cultural sensitivity, and patient confidentiality.
