Requirements

  • Must be able to perform all duties and functions outlined above.
  • Must meet initial employment requirements.
  • Must be able to read, write, and comprehend applicable written and/or oral instructions.
  • Must be physically fit to perform the above job functions as determined by Medical Evaluation.
  • Must have successfully completed a four (4) year Pantex approved Apprenticeship which provides experience directly related to the work currently performed by the Boilermaker Shop, and/or carry Boilermaker certification, or have 5 years relative experience.
  • Must have a valid State Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
  • Must be able to weld steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, and must pass and maintain certification in the Plant American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler Code (6G Steel Pipe) Welding Test.
  • All qualifications, work history, training, and education are to be verified by direct contact with former employers and/or documented proof.
  • Ability to perform the functions and responsibilities involved will be determined by a comprehensive interview and background evaluation.
  • Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
  • Requires Human Reliability Program (HRP) certification. If the successful candidate is not currently certified in the HRP, the certification process will be initiated upon assumption of the position. If the successful candidate is currently certified in the HRP, a review for HRP certification in the appropriate category will be performed by the hiring manager and the HRP Management Official, and the certification process in the appropriate category will be initiated upon assumption of the position.

  • As an employee, you may be be required to receive and maintain a security clearance from the United States Department of Energy in order to meet eligibility requirements for access to sensitive information or matter.
  • U.S. citizenship is a requirement for security clearance applicants.
  • All employees are subject to random selection for drug testing without advance notification.

Nice To Haves

  • DOE O 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. (Ref. DOE O 426.2A)

Responsibilities

  • Performs any or all machine and hand operations necessary to fabricate and assemble, by laying out, cutting to size, forming, bolting, and welding, boilers, tanks, vats, vessels, structures and shapes made of 3/16" or heavier plate, angle, channel, "I" beams or other materials as may be required by established Plant Standards.
  • Must be proficient in reading prints and sketches and fabricating work required of this craft.
  • Ensures accurate and efficient replacement of parts, and makes repairs and/or adjustments to equipment, installation, and/or fixtures.
  • Performs duties under the direction of line management.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of accurate records.
  • Must adhere to Safety, Fire, and Security regulations.
  • Must be able to work alone or with others.
  • Responsible for the safe operation and proper care of materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Responsible for maintaining a knowledge of applicable Federal, State, Department of Energy, Corporate and Plant rules, regulations, Labor Agreements and Plant-wide operating policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Required to attend and/or successfully complete training classes as determined by the Training and Development Technologies Department, through General Employee Training (Reference DOE Order 426.2), and Management.
  • Participates in worker involvement including input to work planning and methods to identify hazards and controls.
  • Understands a worker’s right to stop work when they feel their own or other’s personal safety is jeopardized.
  • Attends all required safety meetings and training.
  • Offers suggestions on improvements to the work environment.
