About The Position

Mitchell County Regional Health Center (MCRHC) is seeking a full-time MLS/MLT to join their team. MCRHC is a 25-bed critical access hospital located in Osage, Iowa, with a Level 4 Trauma Center Emergency Room and a Surgical Services department performing over 1,300 procedures annually. The organization has a strong tradition of excellence and has invested significantly in facility upgrades. With over 225 employees and an average tenure of eight years, MCRHC is an affiliate of MercyOne and offers a patient-focused environment where skills and knowledge are valued. This position is .9 FTE, working 72 hours per pay period, with shifts including Sundays-Saturdays, weekends, and holidays. The pay is based on experience, with a base rate starting at $25.84 for MLT and $28.92 for MLS.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in science required (for MLS).
  • Associate degree in science required (for MLT).
  • Board of Registry MLS (ASCP) certification, MT (ASCP) certification, MLS (AMT) certification, or HEWMT certification required (for MLS).
  • Board of Registry MLT(ASCP) certificate required or obtained within 6 months of hire (for MLT).
  • Must demonstrate competence in BLS within six months in position by obtaining certification.
  • Must be certified Mandatory Reporter within six months in position.
  • Previous experience is preferred.
  • Must have ability to work flexible hours (call, Holidays, weekends).
  • Must have ability to communicate effectively with other hospital personnel, patients, vendors, and service personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all routine and all complex lab tests.
  • Confirms and verifies results using knowledge of techniques, principles and instruments.
  • Correlates and interprets results based on knowledge of physiological conditions.
  • Recognizes problems, identifies causes and determines solution where no preset criteria is available.
  • Monitors and resolves quality assurance problems.
  • Evaluates and implements new methods and instruments.
  • Performs all waived and moderate complex Lab tests.
  • With adequate orientation and supervision, performs highly complex lab tests.
  • Monitors Q.A. procedures within preset parameters.
  • Recognizes and solves problems using skills and technical knowledge.
