About The Position

Diagnostic Laboratory of Oklahoma (DLO) is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) I for their Evening Shift in Edmond, OK. This full-time position involves performing routine testing in various laboratory departments, assisting with specimen processing, performing instrument maintenance, and contributing to special projects. The role requires a strong understanding of laboratory procedures, problem-solving skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Candidates must be able to maintain a professional attitude, reflect company values, and be willing to work overtime or other shifts as needed. The position involves physical demands such as lifting, standing for long periods, and using laboratory instruments.

Requirements

  • AS degree in Medical Lab Technology or BS in Medical Technology.
  • ASCP MT/MLT certification or equivalent or be eligible for national MT/MLT certification.
  • Ability to maintain a professional, courteous, and pleasant attitude in times of heavy workload and stress.
  • Reflect the company’s values in all aspects of performance.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Keyboard skills are important.
  • Good customer service skills, professional appearance and attitude are required.
  • Must be willing to work overtime or other times/shifts if required.
  • Lifting and carrying objects: Objects 1 to 10 pounds are lifted and carried frequently; objects 11 to 25 pounds are lifted and carried occasionally; objects 36 to 50 pounds are seldom lifted or carried and objects over 50 pounds are not to be lifted or carried without assistance.
  • Ability to stand and work at the bench for long periods of time.
  • Frequent walking and/or standing.
  • May be required to use a wide variety of manual and automated pipettes and laboratory instruments and apparatuses all of which demand significant manual dexterity.

Nice To Haves

  • Good computer skills.
  • Knowledge in Epic and Media Lab is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine testing in chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, serology, coagulation, molecular, and microbiology.
  • Assist with specimen processing as needed.
  • Follow employer and hospital policies.
  • Perform instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Perform duties in the clinical laboratory.
  • Assist supervisor/manager with special projects/assignments.
