About The Position

HLA2 is seeking a driven MLL/Intervention Teacher to deliver engaging, standards-based instruction, utilize Responsive Classroom techniques, and monitor student progress while collaborating with colleagues to refine teaching practices. The school is part of Hebrew Public: Charter Schools for Global Citizens, a network of public charter schools serving children from all backgrounds and helping them become global citizens. Candidates do not need to speak Hebrew, and those from traditionally underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Legally authorized to work in the USA.

Nice To Haves

Masters degree is a plus.
K-12 lead teaching experience in a classroom setting is a plus.
Experience in urban, public charter, or Title I schools is a plus.
Hold NY teacher certification or working towards certification is a plus.

Produce quality Common Core aligned lesson plans that strive for higher-level objectives while accommodating all learning styles.
Analyze and regularly review student assessment data from a variety of sources – both formally and informally - to drive curricular and pedagogical choices and adjustments.
Administer the NYSITEL to all new entrants within 10 days of entry to school.
Administer the NYSESLAT to all Multilingual Learner (MLL) and English Language Learner (ESL) students each year.
Provide small group pull-out services to tier 3 students for intervention.
Implement Fountas & Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention.
Maximize learning time through effective classroom management.
Provide an inviting, exciting, learning environment using varied instructional techniques and developmentally appropriate strategies.
Mastery/deep knowledge in instructional subject area, with an undergraduate major or minor or graduate degree in the subject.
Strong desire to collaborate with other faculty and instructional leaders to discuss student work and ensure curricular coherence.
Passion for his/her subject and the ability to connect with and motivate, individually and collectively, a group of students from different backgrounds.
Boundless energy and enthusiasm for working with students and other adults in the building.
