About The Position

This position is responsible for providing targeted, tiered mathematics support to Multilingual Learner (ML) students through both push-in and pull-out instructional models. The interventionist bridges mathematical content and language development by making abstract concepts accessible through visual, concrete, and linguistically responsive instruction. This position supports students in Algebra, Geometry, Statistics, and Pre-Calculus during academic study periods and collaborates closely with math teachers and ML staff to strengthen student understanding and confidence.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Concentration in Mathematics, Education, or a related field preferred.
Secondary math background with demonstrated proficiency in Algebra I & II, Geometry, Statistics, and Pre-Calculus.
Training or experience working with Multilingual Learners / English Learners preferred.
Experience providing math intervention or small-group instruction preferred.
Bilingual or multilingual skills strongly preferred.
Valid State Driver’s license required.
Ability to display flexibility to meet the operational demands of the department activities required.
Ability to adhere to and model organizational values and Work Pillars required.
Ability to interact with students, families, co-workers and members of the public in a courteous and professional manner required.
Knowledge of and ability to successfully utilize Google Suite and Microsoft office suite programs required.
Demonstrates strong content knowledge in secondary mathematics, including Algebra, Geometry, Statistics, and Pre-Calculus
Applies instructional strategies that integrate math content with language development
Uses concrete materials and visual supports to reduce linguistic barriers to learning
Adapts instruction in real time based on student response and comprehension
Works independently and reliably while maintaining strong collaboration with staff
Communicates clearly and professionally with students, teachers, and families as appropriate
Maintains patience and persistence when supporting students navigating both academic and language challenges
Upholds confidentiality and professional standards consistent with district policies
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of students, staff, and families required.
Ability to demonstrate high level of organizational and time management skills required.

Responsibilities

Provides targeted math intervention to ML students using push-in and pull-out models aligned with tiered instructional practices
Delivers instruction in Algebra I & II, Geometry, Statistics, and Pre-Calculus tailored to students’ academic and language needs
Creates and uses manipulatives, visual models, diagrams, anchor charts, and graphic organizers to make abstract math concepts concrete
Explicitly teaches mathematical vocabulary and language structures, including clarifying everyday words with distinct mathematical meanings
Breaks down complex mathematical concepts by slowing pacing, repeating, rephrasing, and modeling problem- solving strategies
Guides students to develop conceptual understanding and independent problem-solving skills rather than providing answers
Differentiates instruction to support students across multiple English language acquisition levels
Collaborates with classroom teachers, ML staff, and administrators to align interventions with curriculum and instructional goals
Monitors student progress and adjusts instructional strategies in response to student needs
Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.
