About The Position

Blue Origin’s Lunar Permanence business unit develops Blue Moon lunar landers and related products. The MK1 Vehicle Fluids Integrator III is the vehicle-level integrator for MK1’s fluid systems, owning requirements, interfaces, budgets, and design parameters that connect the lander’s pressurized systems. The role defines and supports integrated vehicle testing to demonstrate system readiness, including thermal vacuum, tanking, fluids channelization, proof, and leak testing. The work supports MK1 missions delivering NASA’s VIPER rover and Lunar Terrain Vehicles to the lunar surface. The position works with specialists, technicians, engineers, and internal stakeholders to develop integrated fluid systems and conduct associated testing. It includes maintaining requirements and fluid-system budgets, managing interfaces and cleanliness and oxygen-compatibility verification, defining test objectives and success criteria, reviewing procedures, interpreting test results, and supporting anomaly resolution and corrective actions. The position is located in Seattle, Washington, or on Florida’s Space Coast. Relocation assistance is provided, and travel is expected up to 20% of the time. The Washington base pay range is $121,023.00–$169,432.20; ranges at other sites may differ. Applicants must meet the stated U.S. citizenship, permanent-residency, refugee, or asylum status requirements. A standard background check is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in aerospace fluids, propulsion, or thermal/fluid systems design, integration, or test.
  • Experience developing, decomposing, and tracing requirements through verification.
  • Experience defining test objectives or reviewing test procedures for pressurized fluid systems, including proof and leak testing.
  • Experience interpreting test data to assess system and component performance.
  • Ability to earn trust and maintain positive, professional relationships.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 7 years of experience in aerospace fluids, propulsion, or thermal/fluid systems integration or test.
  • Master’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with integrated vehicle testing such as thermal vacuum, cryogenic tanking, fluids channelization, or stage-level proof and leak tests.
  • Experience with cryogenic and high-pressure systems using oxygen, hydrogen, methane, nitrogen, or helium.
  • Experience building and managing vehicle-level leak budgets and integrated fluid ICDs.
  • Familiarity with oxygen compatibility and cleanliness standards such as ASTM G93, ASTM G63/G94, NASA-STD-6001, or IEST-STD-CC1246.
  • Experience using test data to validate thermal/fluid models, such as Thermal Desktop/SINDA-FLUINT or AFT Fathom/Arrow.
  • Experience with structured problem solving such as RCCA, 8D, FMEA, or fault tree analysis, and non-conformance disposition.
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS or Jama.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain vehicle-level fluid-system requirements for assigned systems and trace them through verification and validation.
  • Define and manage integrated fluid interface control documents (ICDs) across vehicle subsystems, covering pressures, flow rates, and fluid media.
  • Define and manage design parameters for integrated fluid systems.
  • Own and maintain the vehicle leak budget, tracking and dispositioning contributions and ensuring they remain within acceptable limits.
  • Manage pressure and fluid budget allocations across subsystems.
  • Own cleanliness and oxygen-compatibility verification for fluid systems, ensuring hardware meets requirements before integration.
  • Define proof, leak, and fluids channelization test scope and success criteria for pressurized fluid systems across the vehicle.
  • Own or support vehicle test scope for integrated tests involving thermal and fluid systems, including thermal vacuum, tanking, fluids channelization, proof, and leak tests.
  • Define test objectives and success criteria in test matrices and trace them to requirements, design parameters, budgets, and interfaces.
  • Review test procedures for pressurized cryogenic and non-cryogenic fluid systems and support test execution.
  • Review and interpret test data to assess system- and component-level performance and health, and to anchor and validate analytical models.
  • Investigate root causes, drive corrective actions, and disposition non-conformances and event reports for thermal and fluid systems.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to define requirements, dependencies, and resources needed to deliver integrated fluid systems and conduct associated testing.
