About The Position

Operates all equipment related to the mixing of raw materials. This role involves setting up and operating mixing equipment, accurately weighing ingredients, maintaining proper mixing temperatures, and recording relevant data. The position also includes tasks related to receiving and handling raw PVC resin, reporting equipment issues, maintaining a clean work area, and adhering to safe working practices. Additionally, the Mixer Operator may be responsible for training new employees, directing others when assigned, and performing other miscellaneous duties as directed.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School or equivalent work experience.
  • Adequate sight, hearing and use of limbs to safely operate powered vehicles.
  • Sight capabilities to distinguish proper products identification as well as warning and operational indicators.
  • Hearing capabilities to distinguish differences in warning alarm indicators and standard operation indicators.
  • Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling capabilities to handle job requirements.
  • Balancing to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling.
  • Ability to verbally communicate with other fellow employees.
  • Hear and understand verbal communication.
  • See and understand written communication.
  • Ability to confirm by sight quality level of raw materials.
  • Climb and descend all ladders or steps.
  • Lift up to 70 pounds and carry up to 30 feet.
  • Must be able to operate a forklift truck.
  • Push and or pull up to 2500 pounds up to 30 feet with the aid of material handling equipment.
  • Walking through, under and around equipment with a clearance of 30”.
  • Ability to feel objects, textures, size and shape and to determine temperature by touching of skin.
  • Ability to grasp tools (manual as well as powered) and use them in accordance with a safe working manner.
  • Sight capability to safely operate at arms length machinery power and/or hand tools.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and operates all equipment related to the mixing of raw materials.
  • Operates hand and power trucks when necessary.
  • Accurately weighs ingredients of each to insure consistent composition of all batches.
  • Maintains proper temperature of mixing times, etc. to produce quality mixtures of raw materials.
  • Records all required data on inventory, usage, mixing conditions, etc.
  • Performs operations in receiving raw PVC resin: opens hatches, attaches ventilation filters, connects receiving hose, flows valve filters, activates pumps, adjusts material flow (vacuum), and diverts resin to another silo when necessary.
  • Measures PVC raw resin bins and blends silos and reports to Foreman.
  • Reports unsatisfactory operating conditions in equipment to Supervisor.
  • Keeps equipment and working area clean and orderly.
  • Uses safe working practices and reports hazardous conditions at all times.
  • Trains inexperienced employees on the job as required.
  • Directs the activities of another when assigned.
  • Substitutes for absentee workers and performs other miscellaneous jobs as directed.
