About The Position

Works in collaboration with other child care staff to ensure direct care to children. This role involves providing supervision, academic support, and ensuring the physical/mental well-being, social skills, and self-care skills of children. The aide will also assist in curriculum implementation, daily classroom activities, and data collection for behavior plans. Maintaining a safe and clean classroom environment, including during free play and structured activities, is essential. The position requires regular attendance and participation in professional development opportunities as mandated by MiLeap.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
Must complete 24 hours of annual professional development hours per MiLeap.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with district staff and the public.
Ability to assume responsibility, display initiative, and exercise good judgment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

CDA-Preschool credential.
Preschool or Child care experience.

Responsibilities

Collaborates with colleagues to provide direct care to children at a ratio set by licensing standards.
Provides direct care including supervision, academics, physical/mental well-being, social skills, and self-care skills.
Assists in curriculum implementation and daily classroom activities with children.
Collects anecdotal notes as instructed by curriculum.
Collects data for behavior plans as necessary.
Maintains physical safety of children and of the classroom environment and within the school.
Ensures proper supervision of unstructured free play and structured activities in and out of the classroom.
Performs regular cleaning duties as needed in classroom and center.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Maintains regular and consistent attendance.
Attends all professional development opportunities that are required and maintains training requirements by MiLeap.
