About The Position

Vannevar is a defense technology company building AI to deter adversaries. This role is for a forward-deployed Mission Strategist to embed directly with government customers in Tampa. This is an in-person, on-site role where you will sit with users daily, understand their mission problems, and use Vannevar’s products to solve them. You will be embedded on a military base with a customer group, earning trust by creating value, understanding user goals, decomposing problems into mission hypotheses, testing those hypotheses through product workflows, and onboarding users. This is not a traditional customer success, solutions, or product role. You will be forward deployed with access to government systems, configuring product workflows, testing and troubleshooting new releases, triaging issues, and collaborating with engineering and product teams to enhance product effectiveness. The work can be gritty, involving hours of configuration and iteration, and dealing with complex, unclear, and changing problems. The impact on users will be significant. You will partner with the Mission team to cultivate relationships with new user groups, generate wins, and translate these into stories that support Vannevar’s expansion. You will be the primary representative of Vannevar for many Tampa users and customers, often operating independently on-site with support from product, engineering, mission development, and leadership. You will be responsible for prioritizing your work to maximize mission impact. This is a high-impact, high-stakes role and the first of its kind at Vannevar, reporting directly to the CEO.

Requirements

Active TS/SCI clearance.
Must be based in Tampa or willing to relocate there.
Comfort building trust with users in operational environments.
High ownership and ability to operate independently.
Grit and persistence to work through ambiguity, iteration, and friction.
Strong mission judgment to identify important user problems and where product can create value.
Product intuition to understand how software products create user value.
Technical intuition to reason about software systems, their failures, and improvements.
Curiosity about agentic AI, including understanding, configuring, and applying AI-enabled systems.
Professional presence suitable for high-stakes customer environments.

Responsibilities

Embed with users on-site daily in Tampa to build deep intuition for their mission.
Build trust and earn credibility by understanding and solving user problems.
Turn ambiguity into testable mission hypotheses and workflows.
Configure high-value product workflows for users through creative, iterative configuration.
Debug product issues on deployed government systems and work with engineering to resolve them.
Identify successful workflows, onboard users, and translate wins into evidence of impact.
Build relationships with additional teams on-site and identify opportunities for Vannevar to create value.
Operate independently on-site, setting priorities and driving work forward.
Represent Vannevar as the face of the company to Tampa users and customers.
