About The Position

Lentech Inc. is currently seeking a Mission Operations Engineer to support the Flight Operations Team for NASA's Hubble Space Telescope at Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt Maryland. This role involves conducting real-time spacecraft flight operations, ensuring the quality and delivery of science data, managing operational transitions, and providing on-call support for anomalies. The engineer will utilize system software for spacecraft control, analyze satellite performance via telemetry, and support tests and evaluations. Additionally, they will develop detailed plans and procedures for mission support, including orbit dynamics, satellite performance analysis, communications, and command and control. The role also requires applying processes to analyze and validate ground system hardware, software, and tool releases for prime operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.
  • Satellite or remote vehicle real-time Command & Control experience
  • Ground Systems experience
  • Windows and MS-Office experience
  • Basic computer and technical analysis skills

Responsibilities

  • Conduct real-time spacecraft flight operations across all subsystems.
  • Confirm receipt of quality science data as scheduled, repair as needed and ensure timely delivery of science data to the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI).
  • Manage transitions between automated and manual flight operations.
  • Provide 24x7 rotational on call support for anomalies and operations not supported by automated operations.
  • Utilize system software to accomplish all spacecraft control tasks.
  • Provide performance analysis of the orbiting satellite via telemetry data.
  • Support tests and evaluations in preparation for and in support of operational deployments.
  • Develop detailed plans and procedures to provide maximum mission support in areas such as orbit dynamics, satellite performance analysis, communications, command and control of on-orbit satellite.
  • Apply processes, procedures and knowledge to analyze and validate ground system hardware, software and tool releases for prime operations.
