Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Minor Shelter Life Skills Manager will be responsible for providing direct supervision of youth at the Urban Peak Minor Shelter program. This includes ongoing engagement, assessment, intervention, and ensuring client safety by providing the delivery of appropriate and effective program services in a positive environment. Duties include supervision of youth in accordance with facility rules and regulations, youth intakes, assessments, crisis phone counseling, client data collection, documentation, file maintenance, and supporting the Minor Shelter Case Manager with completing Discharge information. This position also involves communication with the Minor Shelter Case Manager and with the youth’s family, if applicable, and working with the youth and Shelter team towards program termination within 21 days of entry. The Minor Life Skills Manager will assist with reporting maintenance issues and ensuring that the program is facilitated in a manner that meets Urban Peak’s mission. The Minor Shelter Life Skills Manager will work with youth ages 12-17 who are enrolled in Urban Peak’s Minor shelter program who are experiencing homelessness. The acuity of clients varies based on mental and physical health needs, and unique histories of trauma. The priority for these clients will be family reunification or, if not possible, referring to other systems of care within 21 days of program entry. This position will ensure that interactions, interventions, and environments at Urban Peak are trauma informed and will emphasize the physical and emotional safety of youth and staff.
