About The Position

Supports, organizes and implements high quality youth programming for the Childcare Department, including, but not limited to: Kid Zone Before & After School Program, Days Out of School Program and other programs as assigned. Partners to develop and support the plans of the Youth Development Operations Director and Executive Director and serves as a member of the branch leadership team. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
  • One to two years related experience preferred, as a coordinator or supervisor of childcare programs.
  • Required trainings within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention; Bloodborne Pathogen, Preventing Child Sexual Abuse, Sexual Harassment Prevention, Lockdown Procedures, Slip, Trip and Fall, Ladder Safety, Mandated Reporter, NSO, CPR; First Aid; AED; Gateways and CDHS Basics training.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Responsibilities

  • Supports, develops and organizes assigned work related to the Kid Zone Before and After School program.
  • Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities, in coordination with the Youth Development Operations Director and Executive Director.
  • Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel (part-time and seasonal) and volunteers as needed.
  • Reviews and evaluates staff performance.
  • Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position.
  • Ensures program operates within budget plans.
  • Provides coverage for sites and/or programs on an as needed basis, adjusting schedule as needed for program coverage.
  • Leads all child care registration processes, including ensuring registration is open in Daxko, all forms are updated and accurate and double checks registration for all enrolled children.
  • Makes outreach to families as needed to gather missing information, ensuring all registrations are accurate and complete before children begin in the program.
  • Leads the development of all site rosters, communicating updates to child care staff and community partners to ensure all site rosters are accurate and up to date at all times.
  • Manages the waiting list for all assigned programs, offering alternative arrangements and providing regular communication to parent/guardians as they await space in the program.
  • Coordinates any needed transportation for field trips or special events.
  • Coordinates all plans for Days Out of School Programs, including curriculum, staff schedules, supplies, and any other needed tasks.
  • Coordinates curriculum and snack distribution, communicating regularly with staff to ensure all sites have needed supplies available at the time they are needed.
  • Becomes trained by the NIFB in food distribution for both the SFSP and CACFP feeding programs.
  • Assumes responsibility for assigned elements of nutrition program.
  • Orders program and office supplies as needed to support curriculum, staff and HEPA needs.
  • Performs regular audits of program sites and playgrounds to ensure quality program delivery.
  • Coordinates all monthly safety drills, gathers needed documentation and holds staff accountable for completion.
  • Provides monthly report to Executive Director on status of drills.
  • Provides support for parent follow-up as needed, addressing behavior and payment challenges.
  • Escalates situations as needed to Youth Development Operations Director/Executive Director for follow-up.
  • Regularly collects and reviews incident reports for all sites, ensures timely/complete submissions, and flags priority incidents for immediate review.
  • Collaborates with Childcare Cabinet to develop monthly calendar of curriculum and activities.
  • Attends Program Cabinet Meetings.
  • Monitors all school district calendars and develops monthly calendar of adjustments to the full-day school schedule.
  • Communicates changes and supports Executive Director in adjusting plans as needed.
  • Responsible for DHS processing, including submission of new applications and change of provider forms, ensuring forms are complete and required documents are collected and accurately submitted to the state.
  • May assist with DHS certificate submission as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas.
  • Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
  • Assists with summer day camp as needed.
  • Maintains proper records/department files.
  • Assists in YMCA fundraising activities.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Compiles program statistics.
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
  • Serves as Leader on Duty (LOD) and other duties as assigned within the scope of the role.
