About The Position

Overflow Church is committed to developing future ministry leaders through intentional mentorship, hands-on ministry experience, and spiritual formation. The Ministry Residency Program is designed to equip emerging leaders with practical ministry skills, leadership development, and discipleship experience within the local church. As a Ministry Resident, this person will serve primarily within the Connections Ministry, helping guests and new attenders take meaningful next steps into biblical community, discipleship, and church involvement. Through direct ministry responsibility, coaching, and leadership development, this residency will provide valuable experience in pastoral ministry, volunteer leadership, church operations, and community engagement. This position is a two-year Ministry Residency designed to provide hands-on ministry experience, leadership development, spiritual formation, and practical training within the local church. Residents are expected to commit fully to the two-year development process, actively participating in ministry assignments, leadership coaching, staff meetings, ministry events, and ongoing discipleship opportunities. As part of the residency, the resident will be responsible for raising financial support throughout the two-year program to fund the residency program. This residency is support-based. Residents are expected to raise financial support to fund their participation in the program. Overflow Church provides training and coaching to assist residents in meeting support goals. While the resident's primary focus will be within Connections, Assimilation, Discipleship, and Celebrate Recovery ministries, the residency is designed to provide broad ministry exposure and practical church leadership experience.

Requirements

  • Two-year commitment to the Ministry Residency Program.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating welcoming environments for first-time guests and new attenders.
  • Help strengthen Overflow Church’s assimilation process by guiding individuals toward meaningful involvement in the life of the church.
  • Lead guest follow-up efforts, engagement conversations, and relationship-building initiatives.
  • Coordinate and facilitate "Coffee with First-Time Guests" gatherings.
  • Lead and facilitate Open Table, Overflow Church’s membership class.
  • Guide individuals toward deeper connection, church ownership, and covenant membership.
  • Help participants understand Overflow Church’s mission, values, beliefs, and opportunities for involvement.
  • Oversee and facilitate Becoming, Overflow Church’s discipleship and next-steps class.
  • Help participants develop spiritual practices, grow in biblical understanding, and take intentional discipleship steps.
  • Assist in connecting participants into groups, serving opportunities, and ongoing spiritual formation pathways.
  • Serve as a leader within Celebrate Recovery.
  • Support individuals pursuing healing, freedom, and spiritual growth through Christ-centered recovery ministry.
  • Assist with leadership development, volunteer engagement, and ministry programming.
  • Assisting in the leadership and facilitation of First Monday Prayer gatherings.
  • Coaching and supporting Community Group and Learning Group leaders.
  • Helping strengthen discipleship systems and leader development processes throughout the church.
