About The Position

The Mini Tanker Driver delivers hazmat fuels to all specified locations, engaging in deliveries of all fuel types. This position must adhere to all rules and regulations required by the D.O.T. and requires a certified medical examination report clearing the driver for commercial vehicles. The role demands excellent driving and customer service skills, good organizational abilities, the capacity to document data accurately, and consistent teamwork. Work schedules, physical and emotional demands, and lifestyles among commercial drivers can vary. While the main type of driving is consistent, it can change based on traffic, weather, supply, equipment, and dispatched work. Additional duties beyond driving tasks may be required, necessitating fitness for those responsibilities. These include unloading and loading using hoses or loading heads weighing up to 50 lbs, and equipment inspection involving stooping, bending, and lifting the vehicle hood. These tasks require agility, the ability to maintain a crouching position for under-vehicle inspection, frequent cab entry/exit, and ladder climbing on trailers. The driver must also be able to repetitively push the clutch (if equipped) and brake pedals. Uniforms will be supplied, and hard-toed footwear is required.

Requirements

  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Be able to pass a DOT drug test every time they are asked.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Clear driving record for 3 yrs.
  • Minimum Class B license with Tank and Hazmat Endorsements.
  • Must have the ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language at a level sufficient to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
  • Clear DOT Medical report.
  • Ability to route deliveries on map or using GPS.
  • Basic understanding of geographical area and local mapping programs to facilitate efficient routing.
  • Awareness of all regulations required for Tank endorsed drivers.
  • Awareness of all DOT regulations.
  • Understand and utilize FMCSA HOS rules.
  • Having knowledge of transporting a fluid load.
  • Know when to call for directional information.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of mini tanker driving experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver hazmat fuels to all specified locations.
  • Engage in deliveries of all fuel types.
  • Adhere to all D.O.T. rules and regulations.
  • Perform unloading and loading using hoses or loading heads weighing as much as 50 lbs.
  • Conduct inspections of equipment, including stooping, bending, and lifting the hood.
  • Maintain agility, ability to maintain a crouching position, frequent entering and exiting of the cab, and ability to climb ladders.
  • Push the clutch (if equipped) and brake pedal repetitively throughout the shift.
  • Arrive to work on time, consistently.
  • Enter the property in a proper uniform, crisp, clean, and in good repair.
  • Ensure team members are in proper uniform.
  • Attend all required training, safety courses, office and departmental meetings.
  • Report any safety hazards, follow up that the hazard has been corrected, and assist with providing a safe work environment.
  • Deliver product to specified locations safely.
  • Deliver to the correct tank and load into the correct compartment.
  • Perform safety inspections of equipment before, during, and at shift end.
  • Account for all products delivered.
  • Analyze deliveries to ensure safe drop.
  • Calculate tank capacity for delivery.
  • Handle high-stressed traffic.
  • Route deliveries on map or GPS.
  • Perform any additional tasks requested or assigned by Mini Tanker Dispatch.
