Mine Trainee
About The Position
The Doe Run Company is seeking a Mine Trainee to learn to perform production jobs in an underground mine safely. The night-shift position is based at Brushy Creek Underground in Boss, Missouri. The work location may change within the Viburnum Trend in Southeast Missouri to support production and business needs. The trainee learns mining-cycle and production tasks, equipment operation, basic maintenance, and underground housekeeping while following safety and quality standards. The position regularly involves underground work, rotating shifts of up to seven days per week, exposure to mechanical equipment and loud noise, and use of personal protective equipment. Job offers are contingent upon successful completion and clearance of a post-offer drug screen, physical, and background check. A motor vehicle record review and ATF explosives possessor clearance may also be required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 0–6 months of work experience.
- Ability to obtain ATF clearance.
- Learn to work safely in a mine environment.
- Demonstrated ability to be productive and maintain quality standards.
- Learn to operate mobile and stationary equipment.
- Learn to use hand tools.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to meet the physical demands described, including lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently hand-scale or mechanically scale the mine back and roof-bolt as needed.
- Crush ore and run the skip pocket as needed.
- Gain general knowledge of the mining cycle, including drilling, blasting, and mucking.
- Perform support jobs such as transporting explosives, operating a forklift, and performing preventative maintenance.
- Learn basic maintenance, equipment cleaning, and underground housekeeping tasks needed to work efficiently in the mine environment.
- Conduct pre-shift and work-area inspections to ensure the work location and equipment are safe and functioning properly.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
