About The Position

The Doe Run Company is seeking a Mine Trainee to learn to perform production jobs in the mine safely. This rotating-shift position is located at Casteel Underground in Bixby, Missouri. The work location may change as needed to support production and business needs within the Viburnum Trend in Southeast Missouri. The role includes on-the-job training and opportunities for career growth. Candidates should have 0–6 months of work experience and be able to obtain ATF clearance. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. The Doe Run Company is a privately held natural resources company based in St. Louis, Missouri, and a global provider of lead, copper, and zinc concentrates. It operates mines and recycling facilities and is dedicated to environmentally responsible mineral and metal production. All job offers are contingent on successful completion and clearance of a post-offer drug screen, physical, and background check. The role may also require a motor vehicle record review and ATF explosives possessor clearance.

Requirements

0–6 months of work experience.
Ability to obtain ATF clearance.
Learn to work safely in the mine environment.
Demonstrated ability to be productive and maintain quality standards.
Learn to operate mobile and stationary equipment.
Learn to use hand tools.
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to meet the physical, lifting, and environmental demands described in the posting, including regularly lifting up to 25 pounds, frequently lifting up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lifting up to 100 pounds.
Successful completion and clearance of a post-offer drug screen, physical, and background check; a motor vehicle record review and ATF explosives possessor clearance may also be required.

Responsibilities

Safely and efficiently hand-scale or mechanically scale mine back and roof bolt, as needed.
Crush ore and run the skip pocket, as needed.
Gain a general knowledge of the mining cycle, including drilling, blasting, and mucking.
Perform associated support jobs, such as transporting explosives, operating a forklift, and conducting preventative maintenance.
Learn basic maintenance, equipment cleaning, and underground housekeeping tasks needed to work efficiently in the mine environment.
Conduct pre-shift and work-area inspections to ensure the work location and equipment are safe and functioning properly.
Perform other duties as assigned.
