Requirements

  • Post secondary education in a related discipline.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a safe, efficient, and collaborative work environment.
  • At least 10 years of experience in open pit mining.
  • Driver’s License (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily activities of Mine Operations Supervisors, Mine Dispatchers and frontline Mine Operations employees.
  • Develop budgets and performance targets for the department.
  • Direct and coordinate the execution of projects and operational plans to meet safety, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Manage the selection of new equipment for the mine.
  • Continuously monitor key performance indicators to optimize efficiency, quality, and cost.
  • Complete performance management tools and evaluations for direct reports.
  • Ensure compliance with the collective agreement guidelines.
  • Promote teamwork, high performance, and environmental stewardship throughout the operation.
  • Provide ongoing support and constructive feedback to the team to drive continuous improvement.
  • Communicate effectively to keep the team informed of issues or changes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
