About The Position

Sibanye-Stillwater is seeking a Mine Engineer to provide engineering support for production stope designs and short-range planning at the Stillwater Mine in Nye, MT. This role involves mine planning, including stope and access design, and addressing infrastructure requirements such as ventilation boreholes, muck passes, mine drainage, and electrical installations. The engineer will work with various mining methods and collaborate with other engineering and geology disciplines to assess ground control, ventilation, geological constraints, and economic viability. The position also requires preparing production budgets, forecasts, and reconciling them with achievements.

Requirements

• Leadership qualities including character, teamwork, communication, business sense and vision.
• Strong focus on safety while completing all tasks.
• Familiarity with rock mechanics and mine ventilation principles.
• Strong computer skills in AutoCAD, Excel, and Word.
• Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic understanding of MSHA regulations.
• Proven ability to work within a team-based environment.
• Working knowledge and experience with mine modeling software.
• Working knowledge and understanding of cost and schedule variance.

Nice To Haves

• Proven short-range mine planning and scheduling experience.
• Proficient use of Deswik mine design/scheduling software package.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for production stope designs and short-range planning.
• Mine planning includes stope and access design, along with stope infrastructure requirements.
• Infrastructure encompasses but is not limited to ventilation boreholes, muck passes, mine drainage, and electrical installations.
• Assess ground control needs, ventilation, geological constraints or opportunities, and estimations of economic viability against varying operating parameters.
• Prepare yearly production budgets, monthly and quarterly forecasts, manpower budgets, and reconcile forecasts with achievements.
