About The Position

The Specialist, Mine Engineer for the Arthur Gold Project provides technical mining engineering expertise across short-, medium-, and long-term mine planning, pit design, drill-and-blast optimization, and production scheduling. The position bridges feasibility study requirements and operational execution, optimizing open-pit mine sequences, haulage networks, and waste rock storage facilities for safety, efficiency, regulatory compliance, and economic value. The engineer works closely with Geotechnical, Hydrogeology, Process, Site Maintenance, and Mine Operations teams to align daily material movement with long-term strategic plans across Nevada Projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of progressive mine engineering experience in open-pit hard-rock mining or large-scale civil earthworks operations.
  • Proven experience in open-pit design, production scheduling, drill-and-blast optimization, and fleet productivity analysis.
  • In-depth knowledge of open-pit mining methods, cut-off grade strategies, ore control workflows, mineral reserve calculations, and waste rock storage management.
  • Practical understanding of heap leach stacking workflows, crusher feed constraints, and mill/plant blending requirements.
  • Strong familiarity with MSHA mine safety regulations, environmental permit constraints, and state mining compliance frameworks.
  • Practical knowledge of heavy equipment capabilities and safe operating procedures in surface mining.
  • Advanced proficiency with mine-planning software such as Hexagon MinePlan/MineSight, Deswik, Vulcan, or Whittle, and haulage simulation tools.
  • Strong analytical skills in production reconciliation, cost-benefit trade-off studies, and material movement tracking.
  • Excellent verbal and technical communication skills for presenting mine plans to site crews, technical leads, and project leadership.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate company vehicles safely.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure and/or membership in SME or AusIMM.
  • Experience progressing mining studies from PFS/FS through operational startup and commercial production.
  • Familiarity with environmental reclamation standards and practices.
  • Experience with Autodesk/AutoCAD and ESRI ArcGIS (ArcView/ArcMap) for surveying, GIS, land, and permitting support.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize life-of-mine, medium-term, and short-range open-pit mine plans aligned with strategic business plans and tactical pit operations.
  • Deliver detailed phase designs, haul road layouts, ramp alignments, and waste dump and stockpile designs that comply with geotechnical slope-stability parameters and equipment operating constraints.
  • Design and optimize drill-and-blast patterns, powder factors, tie-in sequences, and wall-control blasting protocols to minimize vibration and wall damage and optimize fragmentation for downstream processing.
  • Direct monthly mine production reconciliation of tonnes, grade, and material types against short-term forecasts and reserve models; identify and correct variances.
  • Analyze equipment productivity, cycle times, and haulage simulations to optimize fleet allocation, fuel efficiency, and haul road maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinate with Geotechnical and Hydrogeology teams to incorporate slope-stability monitoring, radar data, depressurization layouts, and in-pit dewatering networks into mine designs.
  • Support mining contractor management, technical scope-of-work development, bid evaluations, and operational readiness activities leading into commercial production as required.

Benefits

  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance premiums.
  • Flexible spending accounts.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match.
  • Vacation, paid sick leave, and paid holidays.
  • Employer-paid basic life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and short- and long-term disability insurance.
  • Wellbeing reimbursement program.
  • Tuition reimbursement.
  • Flexible/hybrid work schedule.
  • Eligible employees may participate in annual short-term and long-term incentive plans.
