About The Position

Foran Mining Corporation is seeking a Mine Engineer in Training to join their McIlvenna Bay team as part of their EIT Program. This is a full-time position with a 14/14 rotation, designed to build leaders in the mining engineering field. The role offers hands-on experience across the full mining cycle, mentorship from seasoned professionals, and immersion in all facets of underground operations. The Engineer in Training will rotate through key areas such as development, drilling and blasting, mine planning, ventilation, ground control, surveying, backfill, and operational services. Collaboration with cross-functional teams in Geology, Metallurgy, Maintenance, Safety, and Operations is expected to provide a comprehensive understanding of safe, efficient, and innovative mining practices. The EIT program focuses on real operational exposure, structured technical development, project ownership, leadership training, and regular feedback for career advancement.

Requirements

  • On track to graduate in 2026, or have graduated within the last two years, with a bachelor's degree in mining engineering.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Conflict resolution abilities.
  • Highly curious, organized, and results oriented.
  • Willingness to work underground.
  • Willingness to work in a remote camp-based environment.
  • Legally able to work in Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous co-op or operational experience.
  • Exposure to safety-sensitive environments.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with the Chief Mine Engineer.
  • Participate in a structured development journey immersing in every facet of underground operations.
  • Rotate through key areas including development, drilling and blasting, mine planning, ventilation, ground control, surveying, backfill, and operational services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Geology, Metallurgy, Maintenance, Safety, and Operations.
  • Gain practical skills and technical confidence needed to excel in the mining industry.
  • Gain a 360° understanding of what drives safe, efficient, and innovative mining.
  • Undertake project ownership to showcase ideas and add value to the operation.
  • Participate in leadership and supervisory training.
