The Informatics and Intelligent Systems Department at Pennsylvania State University is hiring a full-time postdoctoral scholar in Informatics and Applied Cognition to work with Teaching Professor Robert Thomson. This is a limited-term hybrid appointment, initially for one year from the date of hire, with a strong possibility of renewal. The position is available immediately; the term length and possible continuation will be discussed during the interview process and depend on university need, performance, and/or funding availability. The scholar will conduct research on developing and generalizing cognitive models that integrate analyses to capture expert behavior and strategies for vulnerability analysis. The position is focused entirely on research, with no expectation of teaching. Teaching experience may be arranged if the scholar wishes to teach. The scholar will receive mentorship toward an academic or research career, with opportunities to publish and present research, develop grant proposals, and collaborate with partner researchers. The goal is to strengthen the scholar’s skills and record for placement at a leading university or research laboratory after the postdoctoral appointment. Employment requires successful completion of background checks in accordance with university policies.
