About The Position

The primary responsibility of the MIM/Binder Jet Process Technician is to provide support to the MIM department by having an understanding of both manufacturing process control and the fundamentals of the injection molding process, as well as having working knowledge of the binder jetting process. The individual in this position performs and oversees the set-up, start-up, shutdown, troubleshooting and problem-solving of the overall MIM and binder jet process during normal production runs. Verify all support equipment is running efficiently and effectively.

Ability to develop standards for parts
Ability to verify production process against documented processes
Ability to verify all PM’s are complete and up to date
Ability to diagnose and repair minor maintenance issues on machine and auxiliary equipment
Ability to diagnose major maintenance problems
Ability to complete Maintenance Work Requests

Responsibilities

Ensure that all safety and housekeeping procedures are followed.
Responsible for effectively setting up tooling in injection molding presses, performing timely changeovers, and making correct adjustments to MIM process parameters related to molding and mold tooling to meet quality specifications.
Perform material changes and barrel cleans as necessary on molding machine.
Perform material changes on all printers as necessary.
Perform machine start-ups on all printers and verify there is enough material loaded into system to run the programmed job.
Perform critical thinking and analysis of process parameters while developing standards for parts, including but not limited to process routings, process rates, data collection, and quality measurement tools.
Verify production process against documented processes which includes all support equipment including thermal control units, automation/robotics, grinders, blenders and conveying equipment.
Verify all PM’s are complete and up to date.
Diagnose and repair minor maintenance issues on machine and auxiliary equipment.
Diagnose major maintenance problems, complete Maintenance Work Requests on problems and interact with maintenance department concerning the problem.
Train/Mentor machine operators in the responsibilities of their position.
Effectively communicate with maintenance manager, production manager, machine operator, quality department and maintenance technician.
Ensure injection molding machines and printers run to quality standards and meet all production goals.
Set-up robots and automation equipment as necessary to meet production goals.
