About The Position

KBR is seeking a Military Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM) Satellite Systems Subject Matter Expert to support Headquarters Combat Forces Command (HQ CFC). This role is focused on the satellite space segment—including satellite architectures, payloads, spacecraft buses, and on‑orbit performance—and is not focused on SATCOM terminals, user equipment, or tactical terminal employment. The ideal candidate brings deep experience with MILSATCOM satellite systems across the space vehicle life cycle, supporting government decision-making related to architecture, acquisition, testing, fielding, sustainment, and operational transition of space-based capabilities.

Requirements

  • An active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required. An active Secret clearance may be considered, which is something only a U.S. citizen can obtain.
  • Demonstrated experience with satellite systems, spacecraft buses, hosted or primary payloads, or satellite system engineering.
  • Experience supporting MILSATCOM space vehicles in acquisition, sustainment, operations, or engineering roles.
  • Familiarity with MILSATCOM constellations such as Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF), Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS), or Protected SATCOM payloads.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into actionable recommendations for senior government leadership.
  • Ability to work in a secure, confined location (i.e., SCIF).

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience supporting Headquarters-level space organizations, such as Headquarters Combat Forces Command, Space Systems Command, Combatant Command staffs, or Service-level Headquarters with responsibility for space or satellite system oversight.
  • Direct experience with MILSATCOM satellite space vehicles and payloads, including strategic, protected, or wideband satellite constellations (e.g., Advanced Extremely High Frequency, Milstar, Wideband Global SATCOM, Enterprise or Enhanced SATCOM payloads).
  • Experience conducting technical analysis and developing courses of action related to satellite architectures, payload design trades, constellation performance, or on‑orbit sustainment.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess space segment risks, performance limitations, and sustainment considerations and translate findings into decision-quality recommendations for senior leaders.
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense acquisition and requirements processes applicable to space systems.
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense resource planning processes, including Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE).
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, systems engineering, physics, or a closely related technical discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical advice to HQ CFC on MILSATCOM satellite space vehicle architectures, including payloads, buses, interfaces, and mission-level design considerations.
  • Develop and document recommendations for policy positions related to the fielding, sustainment, and modernization of satellite systems and associated capabilities.
  • Perform requirements, operational, sustainment, and systems engineering analysis focused on satellite and payload performance.
  • Conduct system and technical analyses to support development, verification, and validation of test and acceptance requirements.
  • Support Space Force Deltas with both immediate and deliberate operational requirements.
  • Advise on on-orbit performance, spacecraft anomalies, sustainment risks, and design trade impacts to mission effectiveness and resilience.
  • Facilitate internal and external stakeholder engagements in support of satellite system program goals and objectives.
  • Provide rapid, high-quality responses to taskings and prepare clear, professional, decision-support products.
  • Support limited travel to customer events and coordination activities as required.
