The Millwright (433A) is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical systems and production equipment within a high-speed thermoforming manufacturing environment. This role supports production uptime by diagnosing mechanical failures, performing preventative and predictive maintenance, and ensuring all equipment operates safely and efficiently. The Industrial Millwright plays a key role in minimizing downtime, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining compliance with safety and mechanical standards. A mechanical & technical assessment must be completed to determine general mechanical aptitude and suitability for the role.

Requirements

  • A Great Attitude!
  • Ontario Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) License (433A) required
  • Strong understanding of lockout/tagout and safety procedures
  • Forklift and Elevated Work Platform certification required
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (plastics or high‑speed production preferred)
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, and industrial machinery
  • Experience with thermoforming equipment, extruders, trim presses, and packaging systems
  • Familiarity with pneumatic, vacuum, and cooling systems
  • Welding and fabrication experience (MIG, TIG, Stick)
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical schematics
  • Experience with CMMS systems and maintenance tracking tools
  • Proficiency with precision tools (dial indicators, calipers, alignment tools)
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, maintenance systems)
  • Good communication skills in English (written and verbal)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in a 24/7 Plastics manufacturing environment.
  • Sound understanding of industrial controls and industrial drives.
  • Familiar with Amhil products or plastic thermoforming processes.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems and production equipment, including thermoforming machines, trim presses, and downstream equipment
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical failures on motors, gearboxes, bearings, chains, belts, and drive systems
  • Maintain and service pneumatic systems (valves, cylinders, regulators) and vacuum systems used in material conveying and forming processes
  • Maintain chilled water and cooling systems, including pumps, valves, and cooling loops
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance and document work using CMMS systems
  • Conduct equipment changeovers, setups, and support production startups
  • Perform precision alignments using dial indicators and alignment tools
  • Complete component replacements and rebuilds with a high level of accuracy
  • Perform welding and fabrication (MIG, TIG, Stick) for repairs, modifications, and guard installations
  • Troubleshoot conveyor systems, automated material handling, and packaging equipment
  • Assist in installation, testing, and commissioning of new equipment
  • Support root cause analysis of downtime and recurring mechanical issues
  • Recommend improvements to increase equipment reliability and efficiency
  • Follow lubrication schedules and maintenance best practices
  • Perform lockout/tagout procedures and verify zero‑energy states before work
  • Stop production if there is a risk to safety or equipment integrity
  • Complete all required documentation accurately (CMMS, logs, reports)
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of work areas and equipment
  • Identify mechanical hazards and report unsafe conditions or practices
  • Ensure all work complies with OHSA and company safety standards
  • Collaborate with electricians, process technicians, production, and engineering teams
  • Support training and mentoring of apprentices and junior team members
  • Other duties as assigned by Management (Maintenance Manager, Plant Manager, etc.)
  • This role requires the ability to work shifts, overtime, and on‑call as needed
