About The Position

Growing continually since 1968, Knight Const. & Supply, Inc. (KCS) is a General Contractor focused on large heavy construction projects and industrial plant facility maintenance. As a family-owned company and former U.S. Army Corps of Engineers National Civil Works Contractor of the Year Award winner, KCS enjoys close ties with Eastern Washington/Idaho communities around its Deer Park, WA headquarters. For over 50 years, KCS has been lauded for its work in building and updating hydraulic steel and concrete properties as well as their associated actuators. These projects control water flow, fish passage, and barge traffic via dams on systems including the Columbia and Snake Rivers as well as other waterways in Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Idaho, Montana, and the Dakotas. KCS maintains office, manufacturing, and fabrication facilities onsite featuring millwrights, electricians, heavy equipment and crane operators, as well as general laborers and administrative personnel. Requirements

  • Knowledge of hand tools, power tools and layout tools such as lasers, alignment tools, plumb bobs, cutting torches, welding machines, hydraulic torch wrenches, hydraulic stud tensioners, soldering guns, and metal working equipment that includes grinding machines.
  • Ability to look at flat drawings or pictures and visualize how they would look like as solid objects.
  • Knowledge of math concepts, geometry, and layout.
  • Confident decision-making skills, comfortable making decisions based on measurable information.
  • Demonstrated ability to use logical step-by-step procedures in work to plan and solve problems.
  • Must perform work within precise limits or standards of accuracy and all company/customer safety guidelines.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test including marijuana.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Crane Operator experience/certification is preferred, however, Knight offers in-house training and certifications.
  • 3-5 years’ experience preferred.
  • Welding certification highly preferred, or must be able to obtain certification within 30 days.
  • Current Crane Operator certification highly preferred, or must be able to obtain NCCCO Crane Operator certification within 1 year.
  • Strong knowledge and/or desire to learn/work in heavy construction maintenance highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Weld and assemble steel and stainless-steel parts to company standards using a variety of tools and methods.
  • Plan, inspect, verify, and document scope of work.
  • Move machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
  • Assemble and install equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, and crane rails, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Construct foundation for machines, using hand tools and building materials, such as wood cement, and steel.
  • Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, lasers, and plumb bobs.
  • Assemble machinery to foundation or other structures, using hand tools, power tools and welding equipment.
  • Select cables, ropes, chains, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved.
  • Attach load with grappling devices, such as loops, wireropes, and chains, to crane hook.
  • Perform all duties associated with crane operation, including inspection, maintenance, and safe operation.
  • Set up, brace, and rig hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches.
  • Repair and lubricate machinery and equipment.
  • Work within and promote corporate vision, mission, and values of the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
