About The Position

The Millwright will inspect, repair, replace, install, adjust, and maintain all mechanical equipment in a major producing unit or assigned area. This role actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its “Core Values”, always representing the Company with high moral standards while adhering to the Company’s “Code of Business Conduct and Ethics”. The Millwright receives instructions covering scheduled and emergency repairs, installation, and inspection work. They will inspect equipment for defects, determine the best way of making repairs to minimize interruption of production, and advise when immediate shut-down of equipment is necessary. Responsibilities include dismantling, cleaning, repairing, replacing, installing, maintaining, assembling, and lubricating mechanical equipment, as well as adjusting equipment for proper operating characteristics. This includes assembling and aligning gears, bearings, and shafts, operating simple machine tools, erecting scaffolds, performing simple rigging, and changing, setting up, and adjusting equipment as required. Familiarity with alignment/laser tools and equipment is expected, and the Millwright will work with repair crews on emergency breakdowns as directed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years or more in refinery maintenance/turnaround/power plant or construction experience.
  • General knowledge of basic hand tools.
  • Must be able to pass the written Millwright Skills Test at or above 70% or have an NCCER certification for your craft.
  • Completed the Matrix Service Safety training and Client / Site specific training.
  • Obtain and maintain an active status in a drug testing program.
  • Pass a criminal background check.
  • Employees will be required to stand, walk, bend, squat and lift.
  • Will talk and hear and comprehend.
  • Must have good dexterity with hands and fingers.
  • Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, pull objects, materials, controls and tools.
  • Will occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways and work from platforms while utilizing proper fall protection and safety protocols.
  • Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception and peripheral vision.
  • Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow and wind.
  • Must be able to work for long periods of times up to 12 hours a day.
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.

Responsibilities

  • Change, set up, and adjust equipment based on operating conditions.
  • Work with repair crews on emergency breakdowns.
