In this hands on role, you will repair, troubleshoot and install machinery and equipment using various tools and/or equipment.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Journeyperson Millwright (Red Seal)
  • Understanding of Lock Out / Tag Out Procedures
  • 5 years of experience in Heavy Industrial Plant Maintenance preferred
  • Experience using all types of tools & equipment such as hydraulic hose crimpers, bearing heaters, pipe fitting tools, alignment jigs / lasers, hoists, cutting torches and welding equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to read mechanical blueprints and schematic drawings
  • Aptitude for hydraulic & pneumatic system components and theory of operation.
  • Ability to read P&ID schematics.
  • Experience with setting up, tearing down, and rebuilding machinery and equipment
  • Ability to operate Jib cranes, forklifts and aerial work platforms
  • Demonstrated ability using computers and maintenance-related applications
  • Excellent written, oral communication and organizational skills
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills
  • Familiarity with predictive maintenance tools (vibration analysis, thermographic imaging, ultrasound, laser alignment, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to approved safety regulations.
  • Assemble, install and test machines ensuring they are in proper working order.
  • Identify and repair problematic parts of a machine by running tests, making temporary repairs, or installing new parts
  • Oversee preventive maintenance by identifying and correcting potential issues, removing worn out pieces and lubricating mechanical parts
  • Operate machinery or equipment (e.g. forklifts, dollies, hoists, and trucks) to move mechanical parts when needed.
  • Accurately measure to align and fit machine parts together using hand tools, power tools and other equipment.
  • Repair and replace defective machine parts.
  • Ensure machines are working properly.
  • Operate equipment, such as grinders, drills, etc., to modify machine parts for use in equipment.
  • Signal crane and lift operators, indicating where to put machinery, as needed.
  • Maintain good housekeeping principles.
  • Generate work orders and find parts electronically using the industry-standard Oracle preventive maintenance system.
