The Superintendent takes ownership of and is responsible for all aspects of field related activities on assigned projects and obtains successful cost results with respect to labor, material, and equipment utilization. These activities include, but are not limited to, safety, quality, schedule, project communication, planning, sequencing, site logistics, subcontractor, and client coordination.

Requirements

  • High school diploma with five years applicable construction experience; two years supervisory experience in construction environment or 4-yr degree in Building Construction or a related field of study may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for applicable construction experience.
  • Generally, has experience in process or packaging.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and manages safety as the number one priority on the project site and ensures compliance with the Haskell Code of Safe Practices.
  • Develops and implements site utilization and logistics planning and schedules jobsite activity as required. This includes graphical, phased utilization and access planning documents to communicate with subcontractors, clients, and other stakeholders on the project.
  • Produces and updates a weekly 4-week short interval schedule while driving adherence and ensuring integration and coordination with master schedule.
  • Conducts and ensures adequate documentation of daily and weekly coordination and schedule review meetings with subcontractors and vendors. Facilitates internal coordination meetings as necessary with project team, to ensure appropriate levels of communication.
  • Plans and develops construction techniques and methods, material handling, crew sizes and deployment, equipment requirements and task sequences.
  • Coordinates with other leaders on recruiting and staffing needs and facilitates training for all local hires, craft and PCE's. Assists in applicable jobsite training, mentoring and development of onsite Haskell team members.
  • Actively supports field team structure and assigned responsibilities for lead or area/scope specific roles on larger or more complex projects.
  • Administers company policies and procedures fairly and consistently. Posts required documentation in compliance with national, state and local labor laws.
  • Completes accurate and detailed Daily Logs, observations and documented weekly safety inspections utilizing Procore. Significant focus is required to ensure delays are documented and project impacts are captured in the daily report. Effectively communicates project activity to management (Project Manager and Director of Construction).
  • Purchases miscellaneous materials and requisitions equipment. Receives and maintains purchased materials and rented equipment. Monitors equipment utilization and ensure timely returns.
  • Reports, verifies, and documents to management extra work requested by owner, subcontractor or occasioned by job conditions, which are beyond the original estimate or contract documents.
  • Oversees the review of plans and documents in conjunction with contract drawings and the coordination of shop drawings. Reviews project submittmits. Checks and verifies dimensions within the design drawings, and as related to shop drawings. Confirms delivery of submitted materials and products.
  • Inspects for quality of both self-performed and subcontractors' work for compliance with plans, submittals, shop drawings and specifications. Coordinates with QC team to facilitate preconstruction meetings and first work in place inspections. Promotes timely resolution of quality assurance deficiencies. Facilitate early review of drawings, specifications, and scopes for constructability with project team.
  • Facilitates the development of work packages and daily work plans for self-perform projects. Responsible for planning and tracking production rates and monitoring progress against estimates and project schedules.
  • Initiates all jobsite safety and accident prevention efforts. Investigates, documents and reports all incidents utilizing the incident notification system. Holds weekly safety meetings and documents inspections for submission. Conducts or ensures that it has been conducted, new-hire safety orientation utilizing The Haskell Code of Safe Practices and project specific safety requirements.
  • Maintains good community relations and clearly identifies jobsite by well-placed and maintained company signs per Haskell signage standards.
  • Complies with contract specifications, PO's, SC's, permitting and environmental agencies for required inspections. Generates RFI's and applicable project correspondence.
  • Assumes budget responsibility for labor costs, including subsistence, expenses, and miscellaneous material purchases and equipment rental.
  • Travel as required.
