About The Position

Bigfoot is a small non-union, incredibly diverse company. We provide rentals, sales and service for numerous products such as: Self-Erecting Tower Cranes, Traditional Tower Cranes, Construction Hoists and Roof Top Derrick Cranes. Requirements

  • Red Seal Mechanic, Millwright, or Electrician certification preferred, or equivalent experience in heavy equipment repair
  • Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in the crane, hoist, or heavy construction equipment industry
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with AC/DC motors, industrial braking systems, gear drives, and electrical control systems
  • Prior electrical experience, including the ability to interpret electrical diagrams
  • Respect for working at heights, being physically fit and able to handle the demands of this industry.
  • Strong ability to communicate information to customers and employees.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills as well as an excellent understanding of customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to complete mandatory paperwork with impeccable results.
  • Possess a current Class 5 Drivers license in good standing with a respectable driving history.
  • Positive job references.

Nice To Haves

  • Welding experience is an asset
  • TSBC Class C or Class C MIT would be ideal
  • Class 3 or air brake endorsement an asset

Responsibilities

  • Servicing and maintaining cranes, hoists and associated parts on and off sites.
  • Performing electrical and mechanical diagnostics, including troubleshooting motors, brakes, gearboxes, and control systems.
  • Performing engine oil changes, replacing bearings, using pullers, and greasing bearings.
  • Loading and unloading hoists, cranes and accessories in the yard or on job sites.
  • Performing preventative scheduled maintenance and repairs to ensure safe and proper working order of hoists and cranes.
  • Completing all paperwork neatly and clearly at the end of each project to keep accurate and professional service records.
  • Attending site visits with customers prior to hoist installations, jumps and removals to ensure that site is ready for our services.
  • Working with TSBC inspectors on hoist inspections and rectifying deficiencies.
  • Keeping service vehicles clean and organized.
  • Ensuring service vehicle inventory is stocked and parts are managed daily as per Bigfoot inventory program.
  • Being available by phone for Service Advisors as it relates to hoist emergencies.
  • Providing routine support for Port and Construction Hoists as part of regular responsibilities.
  • Maintaining, servicing, and repairing tower cranes, self-erecting cranes, construction elevators, generators, and related equipment.
  • Working independently without supervision while meeting or exceeding goals and objectives set out by management.
  • Working closely with and maintaining a good working relationship with all stakeholders.
  • Participating in ongoing training and skills development as required.
  • Committing to Bigfoot Crane’s safety culture; responsible for personal safety and the safety of co-workers.
  • Understanding and complying with all Bigfoot Crane policies and procedures.
  • Completing daily paperwork on time and with impeccable quality.
  • Following daily direction from Bigfoot Service Advisor.
  • Achieving and holding current fall protection training as well as high angle rescue certificates.
  • Traveling and staying lengths of time on the road.
  • Complying with Bigfoot Crane Company Inc. policies and procedures which will be developed or updated from time to time.
  • Performing all other duties assigned.
