About The Position

The south pumping plants team function is to provide Central Arizona Project (CAP) with internal expertise to maintain our four facilities reliably and safely while keeping them organized, and clean. CAP is seeking a highly-skilled, highly-motivated industrial mechanic to provide journeyman-level technical expertise as well as the disposition to work with other trades, engineering, project teams, operations, and all customers needing support. As a Pumping Plant Millwright Mechanic you will be responsible for the operational availability, efficient operation and maintenance of large pumping plants, generation stations, check structures and turnouts. Perform overhauls, installations, modifications, troubleshooting and predictive and preventative maintenance of plant equipment and systems, as well as local plant operations. These positions are subject to call-outs to a variety of operational emergencies on and off hours. Work assignments are primarily at pumping plants and other system facilities in a specific geographic area but at times throughout their employment, incumbents may be assigned to work at other locations across the Central Arizona Project system, as needs dictate. These locations and facilities are located geographically throughout Arizona.

Requirements

Completed a related state or federal certified Mechanical Apprenticeship; or possessing the equivalent combination of education, related experience and demonstrated ability.
At least three (3) years of journeyman-level work experience in an industrial mechanical environment with technical and specialized knowledge.
Valid driver's license.
Good driving record.
High school diploma (or GED).

Responsibilities

Provide journeyman-level technical expertise.
