About The Position
Level 1 Millwright is an entry-level maintenance technician responsible for assisting with the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment throughout the sawmill. This position works under the direction of senior millwrights and maintenance leadership to ensure machinery operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Basic mechanical knowledge and understanding of industrial equipment
- Ability to read measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, micrometers)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment
- Strong work ethics and willingness to learn
Nice To Haves
- Basic welding and cutting knowledge preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining and repairing sawmill machinery including conveyors, motors, gearboxes, chains, belts, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems
- Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks assigned
- Assist with equipment installations and machinery alignment
- Replace bearings, shafts, sprockets, and other mechanical components
- Safely use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and measuring devices
- Troubleshoot basic mechanical issues under supervision
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols, and company policies
- Respond to equipment breakdowns as directed
- Document maintenance work performed
