About The Position
The Millwright Helper assists an assigned crew by performing helper duties in an industrial construction and maintenance environment. The role includes material handling, basic rigging, cutting and threading materials, operating vehicles and tools, and assisting mechanics with assembly, work performance, demolition, and cleanup. The position may also involve building and grounds maintenance and other responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in the industrial construction or maintenance industry.
- Knowledge of fire protecting; different types of metals; bearings; mechanical seals; tandem seals; compression packing; multi-stage pumps; vertical pumps; different types of drive coupling; cooling tower fan units; gearboxes; and agitators.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic rigging, including use of come-alongs.
- Thread metal pipe and conduit.
- Cut pipe, conduit, metal, and wood.
- Handle materials.
- Drive forklifts and pickup trucks.
- Use basic tools and care for tools.
- Use hand, electric, power, and pneumatic tools.
- Assist mechanics with assembly and work performance.
- Assist with demolition, cleaning, and debris removal.
- Perform building and grounds maintenance.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required.
