About The Position

This role involves supervising and coordinating workers to ensure tasks are completed safely, correctly, and on time. The Millwright Foreman will inspect work quality to meet standards, assist workers with their duties, resolve problems, and enforce company policies and safety regulations. The position also includes typical millwright duties such as reading blueprints, leveling and aligning equipment, conducting pump repair and maintenance, setting clearances, aligning motors, and performing precision measurements. A broad knowledge of various mechanical components, metals, seals, pumps, turbines, compressors, and machine shop equipment is required.

  • Must have at least one year of experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry.
  • Must have a general understanding of the craft work being performed.

  • Knowledge and understanding of MSDS sheets necessary.
  • Ability to talk and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
  • Ability to use math/complete calculations.
  • Ability to perform sedentary to heavy work.
  • Work at various tempos.
  • Concentrate amid distractions.
  • Decision making skills necessary.
  • Detail-oriented; must be able to remember, examine, and observe details.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the activity of workers to ensure that work is done safely, correctly and timely.
  • Inspect the quality of all work to ensure standards and specifications are met.
  • Assist workers in their duties and resolve problems.
  • Interpret and enforce company policies and safety regulations.
  • Read blueprints and layouts.
  • Level and align pump bases and equipment such as compressors, turbines, paper machines and centrifuges.
  • Conduct pump repair and maintenance.
  • Set impeller clearances on pumps, set fan blades, align motor to gearbox, and do measurements of precision fits (micrometers).
  • Perform reverse alignment where required.
  • Work with different types of metals, bearings, mechanical seals, tandem seals, compression packing, multi-stage pumps, vertical pumps, different types of drive couplings, cooling tower fan units, gearboxes and agitators.
  • Work with gas turbines (where applicable), steam turbines, centrifugal compressors, reciprocal compressors, machine shop equipment, hydraulic reading and IRD reading.
