About The Position

This role involves supervising and coordinating the activities of workers to ensure that work is done safely, correctly, and timely. The Millwright Foreman inspects the quality of all work to ensure standards and specifications are met, assists workers in their duties, and resolves problems. This position interprets and enforces company policies and safety regulations, and performs other supervisory duties as required. The role also includes typical millwright duties such as reading blueprints and layouts, leveling and aligning pump bases and equipment, conducting pump repair and maintenance, setting impeller clearances, aligning motors to gearboxes, and performing precision measurements. A strong understanding of various mechanical components, metals, and alignment techniques is essential.

Requirements

Must have at least one year of experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry.
Must have a general understanding of the craft work being performed.
Must have knowledge of safety rules and regulations.
Must learn client and company policy.
Knowledge and understanding of MSDS sheets necessary.
Ability to read blueprints and layouts.
Ability to level and align pump bases and equipment such as compressors, turbines, paper machines and centrifuges.
Ability to conduct pump repair and maintenance.
Ability to set impeller clearances on pumps, set fan blades, align motor to gearbox, and do measurements of precision fits (micrometers).
Knowledge of reverse alignment (where required), different types of metals, different types of bearings, mechanical seals, tandem seals, compression packing, multi-stage pumps, vertical pumps, different types of drive couplings, cooling tower fan units, gearboxes and agitators, gas turbines (where applicable), steam turbines, centrifugal compressor, reciprocal compressor, machine shop equipment, hydraulic reading and IRD reading.
