About The Position

The Licensed Tradesperson maintains, diagnoses, tests, and repairs the material handling equipment (MHE) (e.g., conveyors, gear boxes rollers, drive unit, hydraulic and pneumatics systems, etc.) to ensure equipment is operating with minimal downtime in compliance with health and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 1st year Millwright Apprentice and above.
  • Progressive score card.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical work
  • Background must include demonstrable knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, gears, reducers as well as basic knowledge of shoe sorter.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Self-starter: Capacity to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Reliable and dependable.
  • Driver’s License Required – no more than 4 demerit points
  • Proficiency in English is required for this position due to the frequent communications that must be conducted in English with various stakeholders. This requirement is justified by the nature of the responsibilities and operational needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Welding, fitting, and or machine shop experience an asset.
  • Organized, 5S/LEAN exposure will be considered as an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular preventative / predictive maintenance on material handling equipment (MHE) (e.g., conveyors, gear boxes rollers, drive unit, hydraulic and pneumatics systems, etc.) to maintain equipment in a good state of repair in compliance with health and safety standards
  • Diagnose and repair Material Handling Equipment mechanical or electrical failures to ensure equipment is operating with minimal downtime to reduce downstream impact to service delivery
  • Inspect and monitor Material Handling Equipment and related facilities
  • Prepare and maintain reports (e.g., safety, operational)
  • Coordinate and document work orders in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • Other duties as assigned
