About The Position

North America Construction (1993) Ltd. – NAC Constructors Ltd. (NAC) is a well-established company specializing in water and wastewater construction across Canada. This position involves assisting a Journeyperson Millwright in installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing stationary machinery and mechanical equipment. The role requires prior experience in the construction industry, including familiarity with its practices, procedures, techniques, tools, equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, and safety standards. The apprentice will be assigned specific tasks and is expected to be proficient in them.

Requirements

  • Must be a registered Millwright apprentice
  • 1-3 years of experience working in the construction environment
  • Possess personal basic hand tools
  • Hoisting and rigging experience
  • Experience setting pumps
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current
  • Valid WHMIS, Elevated Work Platform and Working at Heights/Fall Arrest are required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience installing large pipe is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Installing and maintaining industrial machinery
  • Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment
  • Observing and complying with all health and safety regulations and ensuring any apprentices under your direction comply
  • Operating and maintaining tools and equipment
  • Knowledge of mechanical blueprints and shop drawings
  • Operating builders level/laser level
  • Installing/plumbing/leveling drive mechanisms, pumps, mixers and various other process equipment
  • Giving clear direction to other workers
  • Handling and transporting job materials to the work area as needed
  • Performing other related duties, including minor duties of other trades where certification is not required and the work does not exceed own limitations
