Job Summary The purpose of Milling is to inspect, prep, and combine raw wood to provide the best single unit materials to the body assembly and neckline processes. Team members are required to have a great attention to detail and intimate knowledge of the types, and properties of wood. Milling is where a Gibson Guitar begins, and is a vital process in the creation of a guitar that is both beautiful and has that distinct Gibson Sound.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and execute standard operating procedures
  • Inspect raw wood material for cracks, pitch pockets, and grain defects
  • Utilize Opera 5 sander to produce units with optimal finish and thickness
  • Receive, organize, and label incoming shipments of raw material
  • Maintain 95% pass rate based on production requirements
  • Understands and meets quality standards (Specs.)
  • Maintains product flow at appropriate rate
  • Adheres to department protocols (5S and Safety)
  • Adherence to the Gibson Cardinal Safety Rules as per the Gibson Playbook for Cardinal Safety Rules and General Safety Rules.
  • Obligation to submit safety observations for identified hazards using the safety observation QR code.
  • Support the comprehensive Safety Management System (SMS) to ensure a safe work environment, maintain compliance with regulations, and improvement of our safety processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
