This position involves setting up and operating all types of milling machines for diversified production, experimental, or tool work. The operator will need to devise methods for machining parts, clamping, blocking, and holding work. This includes selecting appropriate speeds, feeds, and tools, as well as reference points and using dividing heads and boring heads with special tools and cutters. The role encompasses all types of milling operations such as facing, milling, dovetailing, boring, reaming, and gear work. The operator will also use a variety of attachments, including slotting equipment, grinding wheels, and grinding attachments, and will frequently work without fixtures while adhering to close tolerances.
