About The Position

Matrix Plastic Products is a quality-driven custom manufacturer of ultra-precise plastic components and subassemblies for medical devices and other mission-critical applications. Our specialties are plastic injection molding, mold making, and assembly. Founded in 1978, we are looking for an experienced Milling CNC Programmer/Operator to help with programming, setting up, and operating CNC milling equipment to manufacture precision components for plastic injection molds. This position works closely with engineering, mold makers, EDM operators, and quality personnel to produce high-quality tooling that meets customer specifications, dimensional requirements, and production schedules.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Three (3) or more years of CNC programming and machining experience in a precision manufacturing or mold making environment preferred.
  • Experience manufacturing components for plastic injection molds strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with CAM software such as NX, SolidWorks, or similar.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD models, and GD&T.
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, feeds, speeds, workholding, and fixture design.
  • Experience machining hardened tool steels and maintaining tight tolerances.
  • Working knowledge of G-code programming and CNC machine controls.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate CNC machining centers to manufacture precision mold components.
  • Develop machining strategies using CAM software to maximize efficiency, tool life, and part quality for milling with 3-, 4-, and 5 -axis.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, GD&T, and work instructions.
  • Select tooling, fixtures, workholding, and cutting parameters appropriate for the material and machining operation.
  • Verify first-piece and in-process dimensions using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, bore gages, height gages, indicators, and advanced measurement equipment when applicable.
  • Edit CNC programs at the machine as needed to improve performance or maintain dimensional accuracy.
  • Machine hardened tool steels, stainless steel, and other materials commonly used in mold construction.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain equipment in good working condition.
  • Collaborate with mold makers, EDM operators, and engineering personnel during new mold construction, mold revisions, repairs, and engineering changes.
  • Document programming revisions, setup information, tooling requirements, and inspection results.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, quality, and safety.
  • Comply with all company safety policies, quality standards, and operating procedures.
