About The Position

Reporting to the Mill Production Coordinator, the Mill Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient day-to-day operations of the crushing and milling processes. This role provides leadership and direction to the crew to ensure key performance indicators are achieved and all work is conducted safely. The Mill Supervisor ensures strict adherence to environmental and Cyanide Management protocols, supports troubleshooting efforts, collaborates with the Metallurgy team to enhance efficiency, and recommends cost control measures and process improvements to the Mill Production Coordinator.

Requirements

  • Supervisory Common Core (Obtain within 1 year of accepting the position if not currently in possession)
  • Minimum of 5 years in Mill Operations
  • Physically fit to perform the duties of the position and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must have Gr. 12 or GED

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the Mill Operations crew, including equipment operators, crusher operators and mill operators, ensuring safe job performance
  • Lead the daily pre-start meetings, shift handovers, safety meetings, plant startups and shutdowns, and emergency procedures as required
  • Work with the Mill Production Coordinator to ensure adequate staffing/training levels to sustain continuous operation of the crushing plant and Mill
  • Facilitate the training of operators on new circuits/equipment, and complete the sign-off procedure once operators are deemed competent
  • Monitor all circuits, as well as helping other Operators to resolve problems in their area
  • Review procedures and assist with updates when required
  • Develop or review JHA’s
  • Track training documentation for mill operations crew and ensure training is up to date
  • Communicate with Metallurgy, Maintenance, Mine, Electrical, Safety departments to ensure the safety and efficiency of the crushing/milling operations
  • Generate work orders as required for the timely maintenance and repair of mill equipment
  • Guiding the safe maintenance procedures for equipment, including shut down and lock out, confined space, etc.
  • Conduct area audits of the ore pad, crusher, mill and tailings (including dam and outbuildings)
  • Ensure that the daily operator reports are filled out fully and timely
  • Fill in for the Mill Production Coordinator as required
