About The Position

The Mill Operator is an employee of Munson Lakes Nutrition (MLN), a joint venture with Land O’Lakes, and is part of the Purina Animal Nutrition business. This manufacturing role performs front-line production processes to add value and quality to raw materials and produce finished products. Duties include operating machinery and equipment, packaging final products, and primarily operating the Pellet Mill to pellet feed ordered for Packing and Bulk Load Out. The operator also maintains and cleans the pellet mills and support systems, learns product specifications, and performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor. The position is located in Howard Lake, Minnesota. Pay is $26.00 per hour, plus a $3.00-per-hour shift differential. The scheduled shift is 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.; weekends and overtime may be required as needed.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
At least 6 months of work experience in any industry.
Basic computer and math skills.
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and follow verbal and written instructions.
Willingness to learn new skills, solve problems, and troubleshoot.
Strong collaboration and communication skills, and a consistently respectful approach.
Ability to frequently lift or carry up to 60 pounds.
Ability to perform frequent active movements, including walking, standing, bending or stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, and climbing.
Ability to perform duties while wearing personal protective equipment.
Ability to work for extended periods in cold and/or hot temperature zones, potentially in areas where dust and chemicals are present.
Ability to work the scheduled shift, which may include weekends, some holidays, and periodic overtime.
Ability to climb and work at heights.
Successful forklift certification is required.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Operate the Pellet Mill and pellet feed ordered for Packing and Bulk Load Out.
Operate machinery and equipment and package final products.
Regularly maintain and clean pellet mills and their support systems.
Become familiar with products and their required specifications.
Comply with safety processes and promote safe practices among coworkers.
Show up on time, complete tasks by deadlines, and adapt to changes quickly.
Process work orders by selecting the correct products from racks, palletizing, shrink-wrapping, and staging orders for delivery.
Multitask to meet warehousing demands in a fast-paced environment.
Follow standard operating procedures.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Perform other duties as required by the supervisor.
