The Mill Operator is responsible for checking the consistency of dropped batches and alerting supervisors to any poorly mixed batches. This role involves maintaining a steady stream of rubber from the dump mill to the calender box, adjusting water valves and nip gaps on mills for proper rubber adhesion, and keeping conveyor belts and rollers clear of excess rubber. The operator will also retrieve tails from the calender and place them back onto the strip mill, possess a working knowledge of safety devices on mills and calenders, and assist the calender operator as needed. Additionally, the Mill Operator must maintain a clean work area free of safety hazards and initiate action to prevent nonconformities related to product, process, and the system, controlling further processing of nonconforming product until corrected. Hourly pay ranges from $21.19 to $21.51 based on experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is eligible for an annual performance increase, subject to individual performance, business results, budgetary constraints, and other factors.
