About The Position

The Mill Operator is a frontline member of Munson Lakes Nutrition’s manufacturing team, adding value and quality to raw materials and producing final products for customers. The role involves operating machinery and equipment and packaging finished products. The Pellet Mill Operator is primarily responsible for operating the pellet mill and pelleting feed ordered for packing and bulk load out. The operator also regularly maintains and cleans the pellet mills and support systems, learns product specifications, and performs other duties as assigned by a supervisor. This position is with Munson Lakes Nutrition (MLN), a joint venture with Land O’Lakes, and the employee will be employed by MLN, not Land O’Lakes. It is part of the Purina Animal Nutrition business. The position is located in Howard Lake, Minnesota, and pays $26.00 per hour plus a $3.00-per-hour shift differential. The scheduled shift is 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.; weekends and overtime may be required as needed.

Requirements

Must be 18 years or older.
At least 6 months of work experience in any industry.
Basic computer and math skills.
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and follow verbal and written instructions.
Willingness to learn new skills, problem-solve, and troubleshoot.
Strong collaboration and communication skills, and a respectful approach.
Successful forklift certification is required.
Ability to frequently lift or carry up to 60 pounds.
Ability to perform frequent active movements, including walking, standing, bending or stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, and climbing.
Ability to perform duties while wearing personal protective equipment.
Ability to work for extended periods in cold and/or hot temperature zones, potentially in areas where dust and chemicals are present.
Ability to work the scheduled shift, which may include weekends, some holidays, and periodic overtime.
Ability to climb and work at heights.

Nice To Haves

At least 6 months of warehousing work experience.
Forklift experience.

Responsibilities

Operate the pellet mill and pellet feed ordered for packing and bulk load out.
Regularly maintain and clean pellet mills and pellet mill support systems.
Learn products and their required specifications.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Comply with all safety processes and insist on safe practices by self and others.
Arrive on time, complete tasks by deadlines, and adapt quickly to changes.
Process work orders by selecting the correct products from racks, palletizing and shrink-wrapping them, and staging orders for delivery.
Multi-task and keep up with warehousing demands in a fast-paced environment.
Follow all standard operating procedures.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Obtain and maintain forklift certification.
