About The Position

Barrett Petfood is hiring a full-time, onsite Mill Operator in Little Falls, Minnesota. The role supports manufacturing by handling flour and other materials, operating flour transfer systems, and helping maintain a safe, clean, and organized facility. The listed pay range is $22.00–$25.50 per hour, with shift differentials for the available schedules: third shift, Monday through Friday from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. (+$3.00 per hour), or fourth shift, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (+$4.00 per hour). The operator moves and manages raw materials and finished products, receives and unloads flour trailers, monitors storage-bin inventory, and coordinates with production staff to maintain supply. The position also involves inspecting materials and equipment, following food-safety and operating procedures, maintaining work areas, and assisting in the Meat Room as needed. The work takes place in a manufacturing environment with variable temperatures and potentially wet, humid, or noisy conditions, and includes physical activities such as lifting and accessing elevated equipment. Employment may involve a background investigation, including consumer and investigative consumer reports, as described in the posting.

Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the manufacturing facility.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds.
Ability to bend, reach, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, and perform other physical activities required in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to routinely and safely climb and descend stairs and ladders, including to access elevated work areas and equipment.
Ability to safely operate or work from a scissor lift to access elevated equipment and production areas for inspection, verification, and environmental or sanitation sampling.
Ability to maintain balance and stability on elevated platforms, stairs, ladders, and uneven or wet surfaces, as applicable.
Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including hot, cold, wet, humid, noisy, or temperature-fluctuating areas.
Follow established food-safety, quality, safety, and operating procedures.

Responsibilities

Operate and monitor the computerized flour handling and distribution system to transfer flour safely and accurately into designated storage bins.
Receive and unload hopper-bottom flour trailers, transferring materials to the correct storage location.
Verify flour type, load information, and designated bin before unloading to prevent contamination or misallocation.
Inspect incoming flour and trailer interiors for foreign materials, contamination, or other conditions affecting product quality.
Safely connect and disconnect trailers to the unloading system and operate equipment according to established procedures.
Sweep and clean hopper-bottom trailers after unloading so product is removed and trailers are ready for release.
Return emptied trailers to the designated Foltz lot in an orderly and timely manner.
Monitor flour levels in storage bins and coordinate with production personnel to ensure an adequate, continuous flour supply.
Maintain awareness of bin assignments and flour inventory to support production and prevent cross-contamination.
Identify and report equipment malfunctions, material discrepancies, foreign materials, and quality concerns to appropriate personnel.
Maintain clean and orderly work areas around flour unloading, transfer, and storage systems.
Follow food-safety, quality, safety, and operating procedures while handling raw materials and operating mill equipment.
Assist in the Meat Room as needed.
Move raw materials and finished products around the yard and ensure efficient truck loading and unloading.
Navigate the facility while maintaining safety standards and keeping the yard organized and tidy.
