Mill Manager
About The Position
Star Blends is seeking a Mill Manager to oversee daily mill operations in Sparta, Wisconsin. The role leads production and delivery teams and ensures feed products are manufactured safely, efficiently, on time, and to high-quality standards. The Mill Manager partners with Mill Controllers to coordinate daily production plans, supports safety and regulatory compliance, and works with cross-functional teams to improve operations and customer satisfaction. The position also includes coaching and developing employees, participating in meetings and one-on-one coaching, supporting preventative maintenance, and identifying continuous improvement opportunities.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Agriculture, Operations Management, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3–5 years of leadership or operations experience; manufacturing, agriculture, feed production, or a related industry is preferred.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop employees.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and results-oriented.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Mill Controllers to coordinate and execute daily production plans.
- Oversee mill operations to ensure safe, efficient, and on-time production and delivery.
- Lead, coach, and develop team members to support operational and personal growth.
- Maintain and promote safety, quality, and regulatory compliance standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
- Facilitate and participate in department meetings, company meetings, daily huddles, and one-on-one coaching sessions.
- Support preventative maintenance programs and assist with minor maintenance needs.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and team performance.
