About The Position

Steel Dynamics, Inc. (SDI) is a leading carbon steel producer and recycler in North America, recognized for its industry leadership. The Long Products Division, Steel of West Virginia, is expanding and seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to manage an hourly unionized maintenance crew of approximately 15 millwrights and 8 electricians. Ideal candidates will have a background as a millwright or electrician and have either advanced into management within manufacturing or hold a relevant engineering or engineering technology degree.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects and meet all required deadlines.
Good understanding of safety and the desire to follow all established procedures.
Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power-Point.

Nice To Haves

3+ years of maintenance supervisory experience is preferred.
Ability to develop training material and train others to perform precision maintenance.
Experience with maintenance in a Steel Mill or Melt Shop would be ideal.
Hydraulic experience is preferred.
Previous reliability, engineering, electrical and/or mechanical training or certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

Performs root cause analysis and facilitates implementation.
Develops standard work procedures for the maintenance department, including preventive maintenance, repairs, and equipment setup, and trains others.
Helps develop design and installation specifications and commissioning plans for new equipment.
Participates in the development of criteria for evaluating equipment.
Works with the production team to analyze assets, including asset utilization, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), remaining useful life, operating condition parameters, and reliability.
Provides technical support to production, maintenance management, and technical personnel.
Immediately advises site leadership of any significant maintenance problems that could cause operational delays or shutdowns and works to resolve them.
Partners with the production leadership team to develop operating procedures that support reliability and incorporate operator preventive maintenance activities.
Evaluates, coaches, trains, and leads millwrights and electricians.
